| Probably the most scenic yet least photographed geology on the Sidney sub, the bluffs at Potter were one of only 6 places between North Platte and Cheyenne that dropped the speed limit under 70 mph, as of the time of this photo, though this train has a 50 mph speed limit. At the time, cabooses were still the norm in Nebraska, so it was a treat to hear the radio crackle every few miles with "another westbound", or in the case of the eastbound shown here later past Sidney, "...he's a showin'!" meaning another eastbound shooter is about to overtake him. Great times on the Overland during this time.... |
