| The UP 844 does a "runby" while in a siding waiting to be overtaken by one of the "Cities". The 844 was enroute west from Cheyenne to Ogden with a Pacific Coast Chapter, R&LHS special returning from a Mississippi River cruise on the Delta Queen. My ticket from Cheyenne to Ogden cost the grand total of $22.50. I seem to remember we clocked the 844 at about 100 mph at one point. It's amazing that 48 years later the 844 is out and about in the same territory today and tomorrow. |
