EMD SD50S HI 6060 under test at the Clyde Engineering, Rosewater in Adelaide, South Australia just prior to delivery to Hamersley Iron in the Pilbara. After being retired from its arduous duties in the Pilbara, 6060 has been operating on the Utah Railway since mid-2001. I worked 7km from the Clyde workshops and could hear the big EMDs being load tested. If the testing coincided with my lunch break, I drove to Rosewater to listen to the amazing sound of these giant locos - quite different to the little Alcos were were familiar with.
