| Built in the 1930's for fast passenger service by SNCF predecessor "PO-Midi" company, these engines were nicknamed "pregnant women" for an obvious reason. They were the finest speed locomotives of the time. Still in service in the 1970's, the last 2D2 5500 were retired in 1980. |
