| The first major winter storm of the season has decended upon the Blue Mountains of Eastern Oregon and the "Oregon Short Line" - UP's main line between the Pacific Northwest and the Midwest.
Train K-TALN (Tacoma, WA - Lander Yard, Chicago, IL) is a K-Line stack train that has just went underway after going into emergency on the 2.2% downgrade, causing the conductor to tie down the train on the hill, trudging through the 18 inches of snow.
The train is moving at less than 5mph as the engineer cannot see the block at the end of the siding due to the heavy snowfall. |
