| This classic shot of a Strasburg Railroad hourly passenger train arriving at Groff's Picnic Grove has eluded me for years. Either the light wasn't right, or the loco didn't smoke and in nearly all cases the foliage obscured the location name on the shelter. My first visit to the annual Trains and Troops event this year proved to be the charm. Sweet fall afternoon light, gorgeous exhaust plume and finally, I could clearly read "GROFF'S" on the sign. Cross this shot off the to-do list! |
