Remarks & Notes
Dropping back 48 years from my last post, here is another one of those grainy faded Anscochromes that has been reasonably resurrected by Photoshop. No. 3 is doing intra plant switching at the mill. It was built in 1900 as a 3-foot gauge engine, and was converted to standard gauge in 1947 when the "big" shays took over on the logging railroad. Ironically it continued to work the mill after the logging railroad closed after the 1960 season. It worked at the mill until 1963, when it was sold to Roaring Camp, converted back to narrow gauge, and still hauls tourists to the top of Bear Mountain.
