Remarks & Notes
Fegua 181 doubleheads with road engine 204 leaving Escuintla for the climb up the 3.7 percent (ruling) grade to Palin Pass enroute Guatemala City. Both engines are postwar products of Baldwin. The pass is between two volcanoes and you can see the saddle just above the building with the red roof. IRCA/Fegua normally used helpers cut into the train, and the doubleheading shown ("machinas juntas") was done specifically for our Central American Rail Tours special.
