The switcher was being returned to Loveland, CO when the Longmont Turn derailed. The pileup behind the switcher is quite evident. Most SW14s were rebuilt from wrecked IC switchers, if the cab was badly damaged the new cab was built in house. The shops did not have the ability to roll the EMD roof radius, so the new roof is of flat panels.
