| The exhaust from SP 2472 blasts the telltales as she pulls a photo special through Niles Canyon. I had almost forgotten telltales, one of the many details from the old days that are largely missing from the railroad scene these days. They warned anyone riding the car tops that a low obstruction was ahead, in this case the through truss bridge in the background. The 2472 is owned by the Golden Gate Railroad Museum, and has been recently returned to service on the ex-SP Niles Canyon Railway of the Pacific Locomotive Association. Nice matching train of old heavyweight cars. |
