Remarks & Notes
Frost on a "crocodile". The crocodile is the oldest cab-signal system that was implemented in France. It is now generalised on all lines - including Belgium and Luxemburg - with the exception of LGVs (high speed lines). Each signal is fitted with a crocodile. The crocodile sends an electrical current to the locomotives, which trigers a warning sound in the cab when the signal shows a red light or a restrictive information. The crocodile was invented in 1872 by Lartigue and Forest, for the "Chemins de Fer du Nord" Company (Northern Railroad).
