Remarks & Notes
A roaring pair of big UP powerhouses begins the downhill run to Laramie, exiting Hermosa Tunnel during a snowstorm. Leading is U50 #40, followed by a DD35B. UP 40 was built in 1964, using reconditioned trucks and bolster assemblies from GTELs. Most of the UP U50s lasted only 10 years before being traded back to GE.

The worst of railroad design. Please, send me your entries / suggestions for the "Album of the ugly trains of the world" (past or present, paint scheme or shape).
