| Heavy snow and cold tempertures froze the air system on VIA 15's two lead locomotives 6400 and 6405. New CNR 8817 was added to the headend in Halifax to supply air. This unit was removed in Moncton and 6410 was added to the airless F40's. A long airhose was hung along the frame of the two units and the first baggage car to by-pass the trio. Additional airbrake problems with the rescue 6410 delayed departure from Moncton. Winter railroading at its finest. |
