These tracks lie on the right of way of the former Camden & Amboy Railroad, the first railroad built in the state of New Jersey and one of the first railroads built in the United States. Absorbed by the Pennsylvania Railroad and later Conrail, this vital link connecting Camden and South Amboy now lies in ruins since its function as a through route was discontinued. This switch leads to a spur that once serviced a large warehouse adjacent to the New Jersey Turnpike, which can be seen in the background.
