Remarks & Notes
A photograph taken during the 1914-18 war in France showing a 4-6-4T that has fallen into a canal on the Western Front. It was one of 14 engines from an order for 40 built by Beyer, Peacock & Co., in Manchester, England for the Dutch State Railway that were diverted to the ROD - Railway Operating Division of the Royal Engineers. These engines came into the stock of the Nord railway in France after the war while the other 26 worked in the Netherlands.
