In the 1970s, Union Pacific put together some amazing locomotive consists, as evidenced by this eastbound freight photographed near Cajon Pass' Summit: UP SD40-2 3428, UP SD40-2 3166, UP GP30B 717B, D&RGW SD45 5338 and UP DD35A 78. On the Union Pacific in 70s, this kind of variety wasn’t unusual. (Cajon Pass, California – October 1, 1979)
