| Amtrak #500 is crossing thru Emigrant Gap, leaving the watershed of the South Fork of the Yuba River and moving into the canyon of North Fork of the American River. It the use of these gaps like this that enabled the construction of the original Central Pacific across the Sierra Nevada. |
