Definition of a 'Unique View'
Our software records the number of views for each photo included in the database, for the purposes of allowing the submitting photographer to gauge the popularity and appeal of each of their photos.

For this system to work as intended, our software must prevent individuals from artificially inflating the view count on any particular photo through such methods as repeatedly clicking 'Reload,' setting the web-browser to auto-reload the page, etc. Thus, we have implemented the definition of 'Unique View' found below.

A view of a particular photo will be counted only once per 24 hours from the same computer. When a photo is viewed originally by a specific computer, one (1) 'view' is added to the photo's counter. Any subsequent reloads or views of that specific photo from the same computer over the next 24 hour period will not be counted.

Once 24 hours has elapsed since the original view was recorded, loading the image from the specific computer will record one (1) additional view, after which no new views will be accrued for another 24 hour period.

In our opinion, if a user makes a concerted effort to view the same photo after 24 hours has elapsed, this view should count as another 'view.' Our system takes this into account.
