Remarks: An eastbound manifest makes the relatively easy climb towards the summit on Sherman Hill. The grandeur of Wyoming is evident on this Sunday morning.
Remarks: The lead unit of a northbound manifest is shot through the arch of an old bridge that supports a southbound loaded coal train. The rain is heavy...my feet are wet...my smile is wide.
Remarks: A westbound empty coal train snakes through one of the many "Canyons of the Colorado". Colorado River Rd. follows the river and the railroad for 35 miles between Bond and Dotsero offering numerous scenic venues. The road is dirt but in very good shape.
Remarks: "Uncle Pete" offers up a "triple" at Dale Jct., WY, a mile east of the Hermosa Tunnels at 11am on a perfectly gorgeous Sunday morning. Two westbound stack trains meet an eastbound manifest. The stacker in the center must wait for a clear track.
