9998 and 9999 run around their train of office cars Indiana and Illinois. The F40's made their maiden run today from Huntington to St. Albans and return.
Almost done...
Fresh from the paint shop, Huntington Locomotive Shops load test unit shows off her new YN3 paint. I feel pretty safe saying this will be the only SD45-2 ever painted YN3!
The newest retirement, 8976 joins other interesting power in the HLS deadline. Ex-CR 6665.
What's left of 8417 is hauled off by Mansbach Metals for scrap. Locomotive was scrapped on site in about 8 hours.
Not much left of 8972. Scrappers have been carefully removing parts that can be reused, the rest will be hauled off by truck. Sad.
Scrappers have torn into 4615. Doesn't take long to cut a locomotive down to fit into a scrap trailer.
Westbound train 93 passes the wrecked remains of train 92 from the day before. Date is approximate.
Fresh new paint!
The newest CSX retirement :-(
When they realized the train was too close to beat, the ditch was their only hope. Occupants ran from the van they thought, and I thought was hit!
2280 is half blasted in preparation for new YN3 paint.
802 is about to enter the sandblast room, will be wearing new CSX blue and gold next week
Where C&O 4617 does not want to go.......
