Although this E8 looks great in FEC paint, it never actually worked for the railroad. Built in 1952 for the PRR.
You can barely tell that for many decades Dan River Mills had a wooden trestle that could hold 3 coal cars at a time right here. The coal dump is gone and most of the mill is as well now.
The volunteer cars are parked next to a steam engine built by Brooks in 1900.
My 6'0 buddy is dwarfed by the UP Big Boy.
