Remarks: Not only was 630 the only Shovelnose on the Rock Island painted with a golden nose, it was (and still is) the last operational E6 in the country. Just as several of The Rock's Early Cowl units had been retired / sold off, the railroad as a whole would soon face a similar fate as it went into total liquidation less than two months from the photo's date. Remarks: On May 4th, 1980, The Rock Island ran their last train out of Council Bluffs, Iowa. This train was powered by RI 4355, RI 4352 and RI 4513. It consisted of all RI-owned equipment out of CB in tow with it, eastbound out of town to it's soon to be-new owner
