Remarks: All appears normal at Ridgely as Amtrak #303 makes its regular sojourn south thru Springfield. Out of sight, however, a Union Pacific track gang is working on the new switches and trackwork that will eventually put the historic tower out of business.

Remarks: NS D31 starts pulling at Shops Yard after waiting for what seemed to be an eternity for both OCS train #952 and #398 to pass thru town. Leading today's train is GP59 4640, affectionately known to most Illinois Division train crews as "Ol Shakey".
