These were all fascinating, each one a little, or a lot, different, as was Waycross' way of doing things. This one must be retired as it has no front coupler.
This one was rebuilt in late 1981 and has the strobe lights on the cab. These didn't last long and there's a little road dirt but this is an as-built GP-16.
In the late 80's, lots of old Geeps were stored at Hamlet in various states of disrepair, including this former C&O GP9.
Still wearing the old L&N number this "basic" SD-40 seems to have just a bit better aesthetic balance than the -2 in my opinion.
Just another nice looking SBD unit.
This is an amazing picture, to me. I had considered all these gone for a few years when two showed up in the yard in Hamlet getting periodic inspections. I don't know how they survived so long.
