The date: 1965. A local off the "real" Norfolk Southern arrives in the wee hours of the morning behind a sharp looking Baldwin. (Recreated during NCTM's Rail Days night photo shoot.)
After Southern's 1974 take over of the "old NS" the Baldwins were rounded up and sent to Chattanooga to have any remaining fuel removed from their tanks before they were sold off.
No, this is not the orginial Norfolk Southern as we know it. This road was actually a shortline that was acquired by the Southern and later evolved into todays Norfolk Southern.
