Seaboard System GP40 #6782 was built June 1970 as Seaboard Coast Line #1628 and later became CSX #6782. After leaving CSX roster, unit was rebuilt to GP38M-3 and became Union Pacific #2504

Queensgate Yard

All GE B36-7s.

Southbound coal loads working through the Nolichucky Gorge near Poplar, NC.

Train 175 departs Moncrief Yard with SBD 1733, 5526, 5532, 5538 and U36B 1813.

Among the very first GP-38s built were those owned by Clinchfield. This one is stored in the Willams yard as evidenced by the 1/2 55 gallon drums used as stack caps (not a bad idea).

This ex-SCL unit is nicely reserviced and heading for "the field" to await assignment to an outbound train.

At least some of their units got this nice paint scheme before CSwhatever came along.

It's a shame these didn't catch on more. They were chunky and powerful looking. Most of SBD's were built with recycled EMD trucks (except the lightweight ones). This is a regular but with FB-2 ... (more)

This unit is probably in for inspection and minor maintenance which used to be done by Hamlet shops.
