On the way back home from our M.O.M. trip I stumbled across these sleeping beauties.
The rain is gone, the early evening sunlight casts long shadows upon the graceful flanks of this impressive beast as she wakes the local wildlife population.
A closer look at 1225 at track speed passing the Rosebush Co-op.
South of Ithaca, the skies finally stopped raining down upon us and allowed a nearly perfect head-on shot.
Reminiscent of the days she ran these rails, the 1225 passes the Co-op in Rosebush at track speed. Can you see the 2 birds passing across the tracks?
Coming to a complete stop right in front of us to Flag the crossing (Gates out of order) the 1225 follows a fast moving storm front South back to home.
Not normally stationed here but after 2 days rest I figured "why not?" Builders plates are all over here so why not an old lady such as this?
Backing into the Certainteed (Wolverine Vinyl Products) siding to drop fresh loads.
Dad, when can I go out and play? This was actually in the Jackson NS Yard, not on the CSX mainline, sorry! The Flag is on a pole behind the locomotive at a local business.
First time seeing one in person, and boy are they BIG!
Quite a sunset shining on her snout don't you think? Thanks again to John Means for another great M.O.M. trip!
SW 1 #27 from Northern Indiana Public Service Company is a very rare catch indeed. A search of the RP database brought nothing so this will be the very first of it's kind. Thanks to John Means... (more)
Too bad the water was being upset by the breeze, could have made a nice mirror image.
Pulling along past a very new looking UTLX tank car, the engineer squints into the sunset as he and the yard crew make up tomorrows manifest.
Looks like this old Conrail unit is sporting a VERY prominent bend in her frame, sure would love to hear THAT story,...
