A long Santa Fe manifest with plenty of motive power enters Crozier Canyon's east end under threatening monsoon skies.

SD45-2 No. 5643 leads an eastbound Santa Fe freight at tunnel 3. Apparently, the locomotive was added to the train as a lead helper, even though it was headed long hood first.

Early on a Saturday morning, a hot 991 train rolls off the summit in Franklin Canyon as it negotiates an S-curve at Glen Frazer, CA.
