BNSF 8055 seen after just getting onto the gateway subdivision and crossing the Clear Creek trestle. The train trails off into tunnel 2 on the former WP high line.

I've combed the Plasser American website as well as the German counterpart trying to find out what this equipment is. Another rail fan at Tehachapi had seen it on Cajon the day before.

BNSF 4870 leads a former SP tunnel motor back on home rails as it assists in pulling an EB manifest uphill at Walong.

UP 4290 leads a short WB trailer train through the dramatic scenery of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

UP 4441 is leading an EB on the single track section between Switch 9 and Shed 10. Though the equipment and cargo have changed, it's doing what's been done here for over 136 years.

A clean and handsome 5807 and sister have DPU duty on the back of this EB out of Roseville.

UP 5807 is still pushing, as it will until the summit 17 miles from here. The grade at Yuba Pass has eased to only 1.7%, not as bad as the sustained 2% or greater most of the way up from Colfax.

This is the first dirty UP SD70M that I had seen go by since the train that preceded it passed.

UP 5907 with a Southbound manifest passing the exposed exoskeleton of tunnel 4, which was irreparably damaged in the 1952 earthquake. I had a close call with a rattle snake getting to this spot.
