The retored Seward Depot
A nice rock outcropping helps to frame the train.
It is hard to get a bad shot along this strecth of the Alaska Railroad.
Stretched along the shore line of Turnagain Arm at low tide. I had hoped for a longer train but you take what you get in Alaska.
After waiting for this train for a few hours in Whittier the chase was on. The last train off of the barge at Whittier heads north towards Anchorage on what turned out to be a very fine afternoon.
Alaska 4009 is crossing the Snowy River and is beginng the over 2% climb to the top of Divide Hill, then it is down hill the remaining 12 miles to Seward
