As far as terrain goes, northern Minnesota is pretty flat and boring, so catching a train on a curve is pretty rare, at least for this particular area.
CP 491 heads north out of Alexandria behind two dash-2's. One sporting the pacman logo, and the other, the St. Lawrence & Hudson logo.
The eastbound Empire Builder is 15 minutes ahead of being two hours late as it flies through Elk River. At the end, are several BNSF cars, some include the Marias Pass, and the Gerald Grinstein.

When i got word of the 291 the night before, the SOO 6027 had been leading, so to wake up and find that it had been pulled off and the 6062 was now leading, it was quite surprising.
