This is a westbound manifest heading for West Colton, California. A recent dusting of snow adds to what is normally a rather drab looking part of the Mojave National Preserve.
Here are the only 3 units the Sante Fe owned for this particular locomotive model, 7400, 7401, and 7402. Unfortunately they were scrapped 11 years after this picture was taken.
