A trio of box cars with animated characters portray the past, present and future of area railroads. The present-day VIA RAIL patrons are well-contented.

As if taken from a setting in a Willa Cather novel, a trio of Great western MLW's rolls through the Saskatchewan prairies to pick up some grain cars in Vanguard.

While photographing the 1218 on an excursion run to Columbus, Ohio, I happened upon this 1951 Chevrolet along the track. It certainly made for a more interesting photo.

An F59PH has been painted for the proposed new Detroit area commuter service to Ann Arbor, Michigan. As of late 2010, start up is uncertain.

Freshly-fallen snow is no match for the daily southbound freight from Cheboygan as seen north of Wolverine. Railroad would abandon service on this section of track in late summer 1990.
