34N greets the dawn of a new day in Bay View, OH

NS 34N soars over the Sangamon River southwest of Decatur.

After a brief pause at Wood Street to wait on DD23 to clear up, NS 34N is back on the move as it passes thru the beautiful Millikin University campus on the southwest side of Decatur.

Eastbound at Peru, the 34N will stop for a crew change and set out the blue & white GMTX unit for the 255 triple crown.

There's rain and then there's "where's my Ark???" 34N is rolling at track speed with rain flying from the train through a summer downpour in western Ohio.

After waiting on Amtrak an NS mixed freight picks up speed again at the Tolono diamonds.

34N heads East past the fall colors at Vickers and into the controlled siding at 285 to wait for Toledo East to find room for him to continue his trip.

Almost exactly three years ago I photographed this engine near Pittsburgh. Surprisingly, 8441 is still in Conrail colors and looks pretty good for being over 15 years old.
