Two-year-old SDP40F's 573 and 561 are in charge of the westbound Empire Builder this evening as the train makes a brief stop at Belton (West Glacier) Montana.

Amtrak #11, the Los Angeles bound Coast Starlight, makes a station stop at Davis, CA, the juction of the SP West Valley Line with the SP Cal-P mainline, at dawn on January 24, 1981.

With a large steam leak behind the baggage cars the North Coast Hiawatha loads passengers for the west.

Amtrak observation 3770 ex-GN Port of Seattle brings up the markers on the North Coast Hiawatha loading passengers at Portage. Oneof the interesting interior aspects of this car was its piano.

The Empire Builder arrives Portage wrong main (running east on the westward track) to make its station stop. The lead unit appears to have been repainted recently in a new scheme.
