Copper Basin's OT-2 job rolls through Ray heading north to the mine

With 47 loads of copper ore and three empties, Copper Basin job OT-1 rolls south towards Hayden through the rugged Arizona landscape near Ray Junction,AZ.

Copper Basin train OT-1 works up the grade at Ray on its way to be loaded at the mine. GP39 #505 leads two more EMD geeps and 50 empties.

The southbound OT-1 (Ore Train 1) is at Kelvin, just north of Ray Junction.

The westbound Local is just past the junction switch with the Ray Branch at Ray Junction. The Local usually runs at night or very late afternoon, so a day time run was a treat.

The OT-1 is southbound at Ray Junction on a crisp clear day.

CBRY 505 hustles the unit train towards Ray Mine as it catches the sun literally 1 minute before sinking below the mountains.

The unit train is seen at the bottom of Hayden Spur where it crosses Rte 177 and into the yard. The train will keep rolling for Ray Mine arriving shortly after sunset.

OT1 wastes no time hustling 45 cars of copper ore to the smelter at Hayden.
