Reefsteamers operated this photo charter for Steam Loco Safaris, and is an accurate re-creation of steam operations on this line that ended in the late 1980s.

Reefsteamers Class 25NC, with a steam plume as long as her train approaches Sheridan siding with a train bound for Ficksburg. Just the way it was in steam days.

Reefsteamers Alco-built Class 15CA pilots Class 15F No 3016 up the valley between Fouriesburg Station and Meynell Siding.

Trailing a steam plume almost as long as the train, No 3016 pilots Class 25NC 4-8-4 No 3472. The train was operated by Reefsteamers and charted by Steam Loco Safaris.

Double-heading was common on the old South African Railways, but seldom happened in 2007. This event was the highlight of steam operations in South Africa in 2007.

The tempreature was well below freezing as Reefsteamers Class 25NC thunders past the photographer. The steam plume was longer than the train.

Bloemfontein Sheds preserved 15F steams through Brandlaagte. The 15F was the standard mixed freight and passenger locomotive on the South African Railways.
