Amtrak #4, The Southwest Limited, ascends La Bajada Hill, eastbound for Lamy. Amtrak is just over 1 year old and is still using old ATSF Warbonnet power, and the train is still a combination of low and high-level equipment. Early Amtrak stripes are visible on the baggage car.

CSX (C&O) 8382 flies the Chessie colors as she leads the "Pelton Turn" from Detroit. A couple of minutes earlier 8382 was under the Detroit river in "The Tube" coming from Rougmere yard in Dearborn, Michigan with cars bound for Windsor, Ontario.
