Remarks: The harshness of the Manchurian winter in northern China can be felt in this picture. Fog, snow, ice, wind and a temperature of about 4 deg Fahrenheit, but the railway continued to work.

Remarks: I regard this as my favourite of all the many images of the mighty QJ's I took on my two visits to China. Not only were the weather and location perfect, but the two locomotives could be seen (and HEARD!) for several minutes on the approach. The joyous anticipation of 'the moment' was an experience that will stay with me for my lifetime. A sadly missed friend captured this unforgettable sequence on a greatly treasured video. I was indeed fortunate that my 50-year old Voigtlander Bessa 6cm x 9cm folding camera worked flawlessly to record 'the moment'. Can it all be only five years ago? A happy Christmas and New Year to all at RP and most of all to you dear viewer.
