Remarks: This picture was taken from a rare passenger run over the "Tuajana e Tecate" sponsered by the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum. This little Fairmont Speeder was our chaperone, running ahead of us the entire way along the Mexican portion of the Carizo Gorge Railway, which is known as the Ferrocarriles CZRY de Baja California, S.A. de C.V. This subsidiary of the CZRY is actually the state government of Baja California and I've also seen referred to as Ferrocarriles Peninsulares del Noroeste, S.A. de C.V. They use the CZRY's leased UP motive power, making this little speeder the only power on their roster.

Remarks: This picture was taken from a rare passenger run over the "Tuajana e Tecate" sponsered by the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum. We are looking down from the top of the famous Redondo Loops at a chaperone speeder running in front of us on the bottom of the loop. My vantage point was a Delaware, Lackawanna & Western MU car (what we called wickerliners) from New Jersey, now a museum coach. I used to ride these MUs from Hoboken to South Orange NJ 23 years ago... weird to ride one now from Campo CA to Garcia, BC, Mexico.

Remarks: As part of Santa Clara River Valley Railroad Historical Society's Railfest 2007, the public enjoyed speeder rides on the Fillmore & Western between regular trains. A friend's reaction seeing this picture was, "Looks like the World's flattest roller coaster." The track is the Southern Pacific main line between San Francisco and Los Angeles, later the Santa Paula Branch, now Fillmore & Western's lightly used line for dinner trains and movie shoots. The "Section Cars" that made up the Speeder ride appear to be a variation of Fairmont Railway Motorcar S2s.

Remarks: Travel Town's collection includes this 1987 Fairmont Gang Speeder (probably a model A8). It was built by Fairmont Railway Motors, Inc. of Fairmont, MN and is powered by a 1974 Ford Pinto engine. This one worked for the US Navy. Gang cars moved track workers, tools, and often a trailer to the job site. As an aside, with that EMD dinky behind it, ths pic is an unintentional Ford versus Chevy moment.
