Remarks: A mid-morning eastbound rolls through Palisades Canyon. Just west of this location is the isolated spot of Harney. On August 12, 1939, SP 101, the westbound City of San Francisco, derailed at 60 MPH as the result of malicious tampering with the track. Twenty four were killed, and 115 were injured. The perpetrators were never identified, and the crime remains unsolved today.
