Remarks: C&S Denver-Cheyenne freight extra 700D plowed in to on-time southbound Billings-Denver passenger train #30 at 6:48 a.m. in Broomfield, CO, when it failed to wait at Utah Junction or hold the siding at Semper. The collision destroyed CB&Q E7 #9936B and C&S F7-A 700D, and killed both engineers and one fireman. Detailed information about the collision can be found here>.

Remarks: N452 on it's side and on a 90 degree angle to the main line, having run into a fallen tree in the middle of the night some days earlier. Second unit N456 is still coupled behind, the cranes have already moved the passenger cars clear of the wreck. Surprisingly there were only minor injuries to crew and passengers
Remarks: Just a bit in the dirt - second unit N456 sits buried in the dirt, after the lead loco hit a fallen tree in the middle of the night, rolling side on and ending up at a 90 degree angle. Surprisingly the coupler held!
