Remarks: Railroading really is a 24-7 business. Just as some were settling down to enjoy the Christmas holiday the phone rang, crashing any dreams they had of spending time with the family. With any luck some of the guys from Hulcher will be home by tomorrow.
Remarks: During the middle of the night in the 1981, a corn field meet occurred between two Chessie System trains near Morgantown, West Virginia. The carnage at the scene was unbelievable. There were mangled hoppers all over the place and a GP7 was laying on it side almost as if it were tossed around like a rag doll. Here is B&O 6965, or what's left of it. You can see the control stand about where the cab used to be and also note its own dynamic brake blister in the air above it. A Robert Tokarcik photo.
Remarks: While switching out the 84 Lumber in Star City the Illinois Central Gulf boxcar derailed. A crane was called in and the boxcar was rerailed a short time later. A Robert Tokarcik photo.
