CP 199 can be fairly reliable for an afternoon run up the river. With that in mind, 45 minutes later Nick Benson and I were at the top of this bluff. It was well worth the hike.

SP 4449 races through Maple Springs on the fall colors excursion train held by the "Friends of 261."
It's been several months since CP has taken over, but blue and yellow is still holding strong as the daily Kansas City-St. Paul manifest rolls on at Maple Springs.
The clouds parted nicely just in time as SP 4449 raced on towards Red Wing with the fall colors excursion train held by the "Friends of 261."
LTB84 rolls past downtown with cars for Valley Park. It's hard not to want to work the Robert Street Lift bridge into the shot, even when they're not using it.
Number 8 makes its way past downtown Saint Paul running about three to four hours late; most likely due to engine problems.
To say it was foggy, might be an understatement. CP coke empties cross the Hastings lift bridge before the sun could burn off all the fog.

An IC&E Trackage Rights train rolls west along the Mississippi River. CITX 2785 has obvious turbo problems, however it was still pulling its fair share of this 111 car freight.
MILW 261 crosses the Mississippi River on their way back to Minneapolis after a week of excursions in Wisconsin.
MILW 261 rolls into Red Wing for a quick stop. After dropping off a couple passengers, they were on the move again back to Minneapolis.
