These great looking units worked the yard for several years.

I believe this is the only shot I have of a unit attached to an ex-Trainmaster brake trailer.

I'm just guessing this was a recently retired Houston unit but I don't remember seeing it around before or after this shot.

One of only two rebuilds of this type got the beautiful SP bicentennial scheme. One of these units is still in existence at Orange Empire Railway Museum.

One fo the things I always like about SP were the "everyday" units that ended up being rarities on their roster.

There were only 4 of the rebuilds as I recall. There wasn't much change externally. Here's one rebuilt and one not. They're working he yard. Nice chunky little powerhouses.

SP had its bad points but there's no denying they were scenic and interesting. These rebuilds were functional and unlike so many based on the same core, attractive.
