Found a note on another rp.net photo that says 1664 was built in 1978, making it 45 years old in 2023. And if that doesn't make one feel their age, BNSF 3534 was built in 1956, as NP 134. http://www.trainpix.com/bnsf/EMDORIG/SW12/INDEX.HTM This is the equivalent of looking at steam photos taken in the 1950's with an old teakettle "built in 1910" still working away...

As they say, growing old isn't for the weak! I'm pretty grateful to be older than a few of those steel beasts put out to pasture and hope to surpass that teakettle too. Speaking of old iron, one of my favorite photographers is David Plowden who did quite a few nice images of early steam still working in the 1950s.

Ha ha! I just noticed the seagull! Too busy looking at the shiny objects, I guess. Nice you got the bird to show good form as well!
