Wow! I recognized this spot right away! There was actually another derailment practically at the same spot some time around 1998 or 1999, a few years before NS sold the line. I was really sad when they sold this line. The new owner after NS couldn't make a go with the sporadic lumber traffic from the mill at Durand so they tore up the track all the way past Cataula in 2007. They are just now starting to fulfill their goal to pave the track bed and have a hike and bike trail, a 14 year delay. I so used to enjoy visiting the area and getting to see the Durand local come thru town. I can only dream about it now.
