Ironic - these tunnels were large enough to allow N&W's huge steam locomotives to pass through them, but yet they were made even larger years later to allow the even larger stacked intermodal trains to pass through them. Nice photo.

Cool tunnel. I have to assume that the fact that they're shaped like a mushroom, or a bishop in chess, is because they needed to raise the height of the tunnels to be able to accept trains like the one passing through.
