I do not recall if Amtrak in the 1970s used the KarTrak ACI system, but notice this loco has one of the color barcodes attached. Maybe it was left from SCL days. Also, 'Amtrak' and road number are spray-painted in blue on gray patches, as I recall seeing on lots of Amtrak's inherited diesels, but where the 'SCL' logo had been. it looks like a piece of sheet metal was spot-welded over the marking. Wonder why it wasn't just painted over with a gray patch. Maybe the SCL marking as on a plate, and the car body was damaged when it was removed. Any guesses?
