Thanks for posting a photo that brings back some memories. I grew up in Quitman, MS many years ago when this line was still GM&O and went through to Mobile, AL. I would go to the Quitman depot to watch trains go past. At that time the depot still had a schedule board for the "Rebel", a passenger train that once ran this route, posted outside and a semaphore signal. If you looked through the stations bay window you would have seen a Edison telegraph key still mounted and ready for service. My father worked fifty years for Southern Railway in MOW service out of Meridian, MS and the memories of this area are still with me.
