Wow. At this point, how seldom was this part of the branch used? Was this preparation for a specific move?

At this time there were normally 3 trips a week from Newberry Yard to BIDA (Berwick Industrial Development Association, the old ACF complex) unless there was no freight from either end during those two days. Speed limit east of PP&L's Steam Electric Station was 5 MPH so it was a trip to Berwick one day and return to Newberry Yard the next day. New high clearance boxcars built during this era within the complex at BFF (Berwick Forge and Fabricating Corp) would continue to use this line until completion of a clearance project at Rupert on CR's Bloomsburg Branch to Northumberland in the spring of 1978.
